Howdi all I am back with another lesson that brings us one step coser to our goal, to understand aerodynamics and to use that info to our advantage. 8)
[B][I]Definition of Work:
Well there are a lot of complex maths and stuff behind the definition of work and energy but i am sure you are not very interested in all that.
Well the one very important formale in all that are:
Remember that the force always works parallel with the displacement.
U = F * r
U=Work(Energy)
F=Force
r=Displacement
The units of work are Joule [ J ]
Kinetic Energy of a particle:
Ant particle that are in motion are said to have Kinetic Energy.
Kinetic Energy formula:
T=0.5*m*v^2
T=Kinetic energy
m=mass of particle
v=velocity of particle
The units of Kinetic Energy are Joule [ J ]
Kinetic Energy is always positive and are a scalar quantity.
The total work done on a particle are :
U(total)=T2 - T1
This means the total are the final kinetic energy minus the initial kinetic energy.
There are another energy type called potensial energy but i am not going to talk about that one now.
Let me give some examples first on how this stuff works and then i think all of this will becom clear 8)
Just look at the picture:(In this example we disregard wind drag)
The airpane are moving forward and thus has a forward velocity meaning that it also has Kinetic Energy.I will later talk about Potensial energy but i also drew the height above the ground and this will later become apparent.Well if this airplane were a jet fighter in Aircombat then it would have had a lot of options because it has lots of energy in the bank and energy are manueverability.This jet has both Kinetic and Potensial energy and he can also trade the one for the other meaning he can get even more kinetic or even more potensial energy ,but remember if you are gaining one type you are also losing another.
Well I think this wrapes this up for now but next time i will talk about the three laws of motion of Newton.We are on the right track and just keep with will the end then all will become apparent and clear.Until next time from me -=RoCkY=-
