Is it me or does LOMAC really sucks? When I got the game, I was really excited, but when I started playing with it…whoa was I disappointed. Ubisoft didn’t learn anything from the successful Jane’s USAF. Although LOMAC’s graphics are beautiful, the game is a bit too realistic…meaning…it gets really boring after a while. LOMAC is like a beautiful girl…its good to look at…but when you get to know her….she turns out to be a b*tch. And there are no good camera angles either! With that beautiful graphics, I want to see the plane from an arcade view like USAF. When I say good graphics, I mean that’s really good graphics. You have to get a really pimped out computer to handle this game. Even the best computers in the world struggle when the graphics is pushed to the max. So what I’m trying to say is there anyone out there who could mod the game up and combine LOMAC’s graphics with Jane’s USAF game play…that would be awesome…the ultimate flight simulator that’s actually fun.
P.S. Does anyone know why it’s called Lock On: Modern Air Combat? I mean…its not really modern…the game takes place in the 80’s or something. With that beautiful graphics I want to see the F-22 in action or the S-37 berkut.

Yes there are improvements, there is a new addon. However, since Eagle Dynamics (the developers) wanted to make it a realistic flight sim, not some arcade game like USAF, they have decided to make it even more realistic. There are new modes on the radar for the Russian planes, a new Su-25T as a flyable plane, better damage model, improved flight physics. As you seem to not like the realism feel of it, you're out of luck, sorry man.
There are good camera angles, MUCH more than USAF. Try it yourself, you probably only tired LockOn for 10 hours. You can even combine angles. There are what, 10 angles is USAF? As for an arcade view like in USAF, it would really really ruin the flightsimming experience. The point is to make it realistic, not like USAF. Think about it, in realy life can see your plane from the rear with all of its HUD data displayed? No, so going that way would kill the game. Besides, there is a very nice cockpit that is 3D with working functions and HUD to look at.
And UBIsoft never made the game, they only published it. Eagle Dynamics made the game, and they did one hell of a job doing it. And learning things form USAF, you gotta be joking? The level of detail put into USAF is a joke compared to Lock Ons, with suck buggy FMs compared to LOMAC's FMs that actually feel like you're flying, to all of the systems modelled. All the creators of USAF had to do was make the simple systems, make 8 flyalbe planes, and tweat the origonal a little for each plane. The creators of USAF were too lazy to even remove the radar and MFD off the A-10. How could the developers of LOMAC learn for the way USAf was made, they are different kinds of games.
And for the "ultimate flight simulator that’s actually fun", it would not even be a flight simulator with USAF's style of game play! It would be a good semi-flight sim.
And for the name being Lock On Modern Air Combat, I'm not too sure myself. But the Su-47 (S-37) and F/A-22 are future, not modern. They are classified, that is why they are not in Lockon. Like someone could walk up to Lockheed and say "Can you tell me everything about the F-22s weapons systems"ect.
I can see you point, you want LOMAC to become a arcade game like USAF,or jetFighter 5. Which it NOT what it was developed for.
And if you don't like realism, then you hate flightsims! USAF is only a half flightsim, try Falcon 4.0 and you'll see how much more realistic it is than Lockon.
Since Lock on isn't for you, maybe USAF for your flying fun, and Ace Combat5 for your graphics then?
And no, LOMAC doesn't suck. You just don't know it is a different style of gameplay from USAF. Its like saying you like USAF's gameplay, and play something like a 1st person shooter and saying it sucks because it doesn't have the right feel to it, because it is a different style of gameplay. Which means you also don't know what you're expecting from LockOn.
And the point of this post, was to help you understand the difference in the kind of game they are, and what to expect from flightsims that are really trying to make the experience as real as the can get it.

| Where can i get these new addons? And how do you combine camera angles? And yea and I could see your point and I agree with you. I just want an arcade view during those times I just want to kick back and relax from all the homework. Being cooped up in the cockpit during my relaxation time is not really helpful because I have to focus and get serious. And if you could give me a link to these new add-ons that would be helpful. Now I see Lock On as a overall good game…just some aspects of Lock On was a bit off…like that menu music…(ear piercing). I know some people have made alternative music but it didn’t suit the game. I believe someone took the main theme from resident evil…that was a little eerie…and the dog fight between Jester and Maverick in Top Gun. I’m trying to find a flyable F-14 for Lock On. We haven’t seen the tomcat in any good Sims for a while now. All of them apparently went to PS2. Acecombat 5 is a good game to relax off of…but a bit way too unrealistic. Same goes with Jet Fighter 5.

The addon is not out yet, but will be in about 2 weeks. Too bad you will have to pay full prive for it (almost as much as the game itself) because the publisher (Ubisoft) is no longer supporting it. Only the developers are, and they only have rights to sell in the Russian market. So you will have to pay a lot and will have to buy it by download, and that is the only way if you live in Europe of the U.S.
The addon seems good, with a new flyable plane with all new features, slightly enhanced mission editor, modified damage model, new radar modes/ HUD modes for all Russian planes, new physics model, and the list goes on. It makes the game more real, so you might not be so interested. :P
And there is no flyable F-14 in it, nor will there ever be any other US flyable planes, only the Su025T and the KA-50 helo(Which I think will be a lot of fun and different). If you mean switch 3D models and change weapons and have the same flight models, cockpit, avionics ect. then yes people did do it. Don't know a link, but you can find one on the fourms.
I see what you mean, that you do have to worry about being in the cockpit and stuff, but that's what I like about this game. I don't get to play it myself too often.
And if you see my post below, you can download a LOMAC movie made by me, and it has different camera angles in it.
Example:
I hit F2, then hit Shift plus Esc and you can now have a different angle. Lets say to positioned it in the rear of the plane, you hit Shift plus Esc and you can now turn and look behind the plane while still staying in that position, and you'll be following the plane. (Sorry if this is unclear, but check out my video and you can kind of see what I mean)
As for Jane's USAF and Acecombat5, I like them both a lot. USAF for being half flightsim/arcade, and Acecombat5 for fun action, story, flying different planes. They are all 3 good games, but are all different from each other a little, so you can't compare the games.
Here a link with screens and info on the new LOMAC addon, V1.1 Flaming Cliffs:

Look at the new damage model!
